Organizing Team Practices

• Field usage is first come first serve - do not take over 1/2 a field.
• Mondays will be practice and game days for all girls’ teams,
and the U14/U16 boys.
• You can use baseball fields for practice.
• Sessions should last 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes each, once or
twice a week (age-specifics chart)
• Sessions should be upbeat, encouraging, with very little explanations,
short demonstrations, a lot player participation.
• Encourage players to bring their own ball. Incorporate as many touches on the ball for each player as possible.
• Practice sessions should be divided into 3 parts:
1. Introduction of skill - Individual Drills (Many short drills
are better than a few long drills)
2. Practice the skill - Small Group Drills (2-3 player groups)
3. Large Group Drills (Scrimmage - stress today’s skill in the
scrimmage
