General Guidelines
Kids First (All Kids) means that we each have a responsibility to put both our kids and the other teams kids health and well-being above our own competitive desires. For players and parents the coach is the Ogeechee Soccer League, you are an example of appropriate behavior for both players and parents. Coach your players with criticizing them (absolutely no derogatory remarks, no yelling, threatening, blaming, humiliating, ridiculing or showing biases). Offenders will be asked to leave the field. Repeat offenders will be remanded to the Disciplinary and Protest Committee. Referees are the authority during game time. Any questions regarding a call must be made after the game and out of earshot of players and spectators. Accept that there will be mistakes and questionable calls made. Refer concerns about a referees ability to the Director of Referees, Field Marshal or President of the league. Promote Sportsmanship, teach players to: Show respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, referees and parents. Shake hands and congratulate opponents at the games end. Promote teamwork, teach players to: Be there for all games and be on time. Be positive. Practice to improve. Promote the love of the game, allow players to: Have fun Be successful (confirm their contributions to the team) Let the game be the teacher and do not over coach. Use resources available to increase your knowledge of the sport. Requesting to reschedule games is discouraged and will only be considered under unusual circumstances. Be at practice on time ready to begin, have a parent/co-coach you can call to fill in when this is impossible. When practice is over hand children over to parents (do not leave children unattended). return to information main
